Yoga is a set of behaviors that involves our body, mind, and soul (heart) and brings holistic experience and development. Attention is given to the sensations in the body, thoughts, and feelings at the same time to develop awareness about ourselves. Yin yoga activity is slow, steady, and still with a sense of core softness and surrender. Yin yoga helps with flexibility of the joints and its range of motion. Yang yoga activity is mobile and maintains a core strength that requires appropriate effort. Yang yoga builds and tones muscles, and develops body’s strength and power gradually.
Combination of both yin and yang represents who we are and what we do in our daily life. They cannot stand alone. There is no such thing as a purely yin (receptive) or purely yang (creative) reality. We need both elements to keep our life in harmony and balanced. When we are balanced, we will experience a sense of ease and space.
