Yoga comes from the word "yuj" in Sanskrit meaning union. It is the union of body, mind, breath, and heart or emotion. We combine all these aspects in order for us to be centered and grounded.
Benefits of yoga:
Yoga helps to open and create space in our body. With spacious body, we can breathe optimally and we also create spacious mind and heart.
To relax and calm the Nervous System.
Our body becomes both strong and flexible at the same time.
Yoga can help to maintain overall health and reduce symptoms like anxiety, high or low blood pressure, releasing stress and tension in the body.
Yoga assists in connecting and accepting ourselves just as we are.
Below are the style of yoga that we offer and if you want to find out more detailed about the style of class we teach, please read this:
Hatha Yoga: a basic style of yoga. A pose is held for 5 to 8 breaths. It is a great practice for strength and flexibility.
Gentle Yoga: a gentler style of Hatha yoga practice. It is performed at a slower pace, with less intense poses, and also holding the pose longer.
Yin Yoga: a combination between Hatha Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and meditation. In Yin Yoga the pose is held between 3 to 5 minutes with the help of props, like bolster and blocks. The target of Yin Yoga is to strengthen the joints, tendons and fascia that surround the muscles. Yin Yoga acts as a balancer to an active life.
Yoga Nidra: is an ancient sleeping technique that comes from India. It is said that the quality of sleep in 45 mins Yoga Nidra is as same as three hours of regular sleep. Yoga Nidra can help with many issues in life, including insomnia, depression, stress, anxiety, etc. It increases the quality of life as the goal is to release blocked energy in the body, mind, and emotions.
The classes we offer are suitable for all ages, from young adults until older adults. No experience or flexibility needed. Flexibility is not a requirement. It is a consequence of yoga. We cater the class to suit your specific needs, virtually and in-person.
